Blue Reed specializes in manufacturing weaving reeds and components for the textile industry. The company combines skilled craftsmanship with modern machinery to produce high-precision parts and has been in operation since 1959. History and international growth

Josep Torra founded the company in 1959 in Manlleu, Barcelona, a town with a strong textile tradition. In 1971, Blue Reed made its first sale of machinery and know-how in Colombia, beginning its international expansion. In 1980, it opened a plant in the United States under the name Blue Ridge Reed & Wire, the origin of its current name. In 1989, it acquired air-reed manufacturing technology in Japan. After a period in Mexico, the company established an entity in Pakistan in 2002, which later became Blue Reed Pakistan. It added XtraHC and XtraDLC technologies in 2015 and refreshed its brand identity in 2021.
