About Salva Cerdá

Editorial and visual design

Salva Cerdá is a visual designer specializing in print and digital editorial design and branding. He combines freelance design and auditing for publishers and studios with teaching and public education about editorial design and typography.

Experience and specialization

He reports more than 20 years of experience working with design studios and specialized publishers. He focuses on HTML-format digital publications, using the Webpublication plugin with InDesign as the foundation. His audit work addresses editorial needs, brand identity, and color-management workflows.

Design schools and training

Cerdá cofounded Málaga design school La Gauss in 2001 and online design school La Hauss in 2019. La Hauss is La Gauss’s streaming course program. His teaching includes:

  • Online Master’s in Editorial Design and Digital Publications: lead instructor, responsible for preparing and updating the curriculum and coordinating student tutoring.
  • Online Master’s in Graphic and Visual Design: instructor for the editorial module and responsible for the editorial section of the curriculum.
  • Custom training: programs for companies and institutions, delivered on site or at the company and tailored to employees’ needs.

Publishing, events, and public programs

He cofounded Rayitas Azules, a Spanish-language blog about editorial design and typography that has been active since 2016. Its three main subjects are InDesign, independent magazines, and reviews of notable new releases. He also cofounded Málaga Type, a small-scale event held at Fábrica de Cervezas Victoria in Málaga since 2019, bringing together people interested in editorial design, typography, calligraphy, and lettering.

Cerdá gives talks and workshops on editorial design, InDesign, independent magazines, and digital publications. His “kioscadas” are sessions where he brings physical copies of independent magazines for attendees to handle, photograph, and explore. Schools, institutions, cultural venues, and bars can request these sessions. He has been a guest writer for outlets including Gràffica and Enfoque Gaussiano.

He runs the Instagram account @Sansvergüenza, which features humor and memes about typography and editorial design. He is also on Instagram and LinkedIn professionally.
