Water Treatment and Reuse

PESA Medioambiente, formerly Passavant España, is an engineering company specializing in the full water cycle. It designs, builds, and operates wastewater and drinking-water treatment plants, as well as facilities for treating and recovering sludge and biosolids. Its work also includes desalination, wastewater reclamation and reuse, leachate treatment, emissions reduction, and odor control.

The company works in Spain and internationally. It offers turnkey plant delivery under EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts, along with engineering and project management, operations and maintenance (O&M), and project financing.

Experience and Capabilities

PESA reports more than 30 years of experience and over 150 completed projects. One of its references is the Guelma drinking-water treatment plant in Algeria, which serves about 300,000 people and has a production capacity of 43,200 m³ per day (500 liters per second). Work took place from July 2003 to July 2004, with PESA as a subcontractor to Algerian company Hydrotraitement. The contract was valued at €2.5 million. The project owner was Algérienne des Eaux, under Algeria’s Ministry of Water Resources.
