Operator training for work equipment

IFTEM is a Spanish company that trains forklift operators and operators of powered work equipment. It describes itself as Spain’s longest-running company in this field, with more than 100,000 students trained and a team of more than 50 professionals. Its main offices are in Madrid and Barcelona, and it offers courses throughout Spain, including on-site training at customers’ facilities.

Courses and certifications

IFTEM provides classroom and hands-on training for operators of a wide range of equipment, with certification under UNE 58451, the standard for operators of industrial trucks up to 10,000 kg. Courses may be eligible for Fundae funding. The company also offers training for Spain’s Construction Professional Card (TPC) and its equivalent for the metal industry.

Its catalog includes:

• Forklifts: counterbalance, reach, container-handling, order-picking, side-loading, multidirectional or four-way, truck-mounted, trilateral, bi- or trilateral combi, pallet jacks, electric stackers, and telescopic handlers.
• Mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs): single-person self-propelled vertical lifts, manually moved lifts, scissor lifts, and articulated or telescopic lifts mounted on carrier vehicles or self-propelled.
• Cranes and load lifting: overhead, gantry, and semi-gantry cranes, as well as truck-mounted and other vehicle-mounted articulated hydraulic cranes.
• Construction and earthmoving equipment: wheeled and tracked excavators, backhoe loaders, front-end loaders, compact and mini loaders, mini excavators, light site dumpers, dump trucks, articulated vehicles, and compactors.
• Other equipment: industrial and street sweepers and scrubbers, building-maintenance platforms, skidders, farm tractors, industrial tow vehicles, foundry vehicles, and travel lifts for moving boats in dry-stack marinas.
• Logistics: introduction to logistics, warehouse operations, order picking, and general warehouse work.

Course formats and professional certification

IFTEM offers open-enrollment courses for individuals and businesses, as well as on-site training at client facilities using their own equipment. In partnership with Almacenática and OCA Cert, it developed a Professional Competency Certificate for operators of forklifts, MEWPs, and all types of self-propelled machinery. The company also publishes technical manuals and workplace safety and risk-prevention guides.
