About the foundation

Fundación El Buen Samaritano is a nonprofit affiliated with the Archdiocese of Madrid and has been operating since 1998. Its work focuses on recovery and social, family, and employment inclusion for people living with serious, long-term mental health conditions.

Programs and services

The foundation manages resources within the Community of Madrid's Social Care Network for people with serious mental health conditions, overseen by the regional Department of Family, Youth, and Social Affairs. Its work is organized into three areas: psychosocial rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation, and social support.

Centers in Madrid

• Alcobendas Vocational Rehabilitation Center (CRL): Programs that support social and employment inclusion.
• Arganzuela CRL: Social and employment inclusion programs.
• Carabanchel CRL: Social and employment inclusion programs.
• Villaverde CRL: Social and employment inclusion programs.
• Carabanchel Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center (CRPS): Promotes personal independence and community inclusion.
• Usera CRPS: Promotes personal independence and community inclusion.
• Carabanchel Day Center: Support for people facing greater challenges with daily functioning and social inclusion.

Additional initiatives

• Multifamily Group: A scientifically validated therapeutic approach that combines psychotherapy and social services.
• Volunteering: Support for group recreation and sports activities, as well as gardening and plant-nursery workshops.
• Public awareness: Initiatives to promote a realistic understanding of people with mental health conditions.
• Training: Rehabilitation training for students, in partnership with public and private universities and teaching units.
• Environmental awareness: Activities connected to sustainable development goals.
