About Cantileros

The Asociación para la Protección Animal Cantileros is a non-profit organization based in Madrid, run by volunteers and supported by its members. Its activity focuses on rescuing abandoned animals, taking them out of municipal pounds, providing veterinary assistance and finding them a permanent home through adoption or foster care.

Rescue and care

The association covers expenses arising from the rescue and care of animals: veterinary assistance, spot-on parasite treatments and antiparasitic collars, food and daily care and payment of boarding kennels where animals wait while they find family. Many of the animals that it manages present special needs or particular conditions, such as mobility problems, deafness, reduced vision, leishmaniasississis or diseases that require continuous medication.

Animals for adoption

The website maintains an updated catalog of available animals, with filters by species (dog or cat), age (puppy, young, adult or senior), sex and type of placement (adoption or foster care). Each profile includes name, date of birth, breed, sex and a description of the temperament and state of health of the animal. Among the published cases there are greyhounds, podencos, mixed-breed dogs, German and Belgian shepherds, amstaff, pitbull and Presa Canarios, among others. Several of them require PPP license (potentially dangerous dogs) or specific care.

How to collaborate

  • Become a member: membership fees contribute to rescues, veterinary assistance, food and daily care and boarding kennels.
  • Adopt or foster one of the animals.
  • Volunteer.
  • Donations through PayPal.
  • Teaming: the association maintains three groups of microdonations (Cantileros, boarding and PPP dogs).
  • Help to finance stays in boarding kennels.
