About Ministerio de Educación, Formación Profesional y Deportes
About the ministry
The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports is the Spanish General State Administration body responsible for education, vocational training, and sports policy. Its electronic office centralizes procedures, scholarships, grants, and services for students, teachers, schools, businesses, and the public.
Services for students
The ministry offers scholarships and study grants, information on admissions, enrollment, and entrance exams, as well as guidance on extracurricular activities and internships with companies and organizations. It also manages admissions to Spanish state-run schools abroad and public schools in Ceuta and Melilla, along with independent exams for earning the Bachillerato diploma.
Services for teachers and researchers
Services include scholarships and grants for teachers in non-university and university education, transfer and merit-based competitions, courses and conferences, and recognition of professional development activities. For teachers abroad, the ministry holds merit-based competitions for positions at schools, programs, and technical advisory offices, as well as research grants for Spanish teachers of French.
Services for schools
The ministry handles authorization to open and operate private schools, changes to and termination of authorizations, renewal and modification of education agreements, and the general registry of vocational training centers in Ceuta and Melilla. It also runs awards and quality recognition programs for schools, including the Healthy Lifestyle Seal and the National Education Awards for organizations.
Grants for organizations and businesses
The ministry publishes grants to fund training linked to the National Catalog of Professional Qualifications for workers, as well as grants to train and reskill workers in strategic sectors, aimed at businesses, business associations, and nonprofit organizations. Other grants address educational inequality in Ceuta and Melilla, adult education for people with special needs, and the use of information and communication technologies for students with special educational needs.
Vocational training
The ministry regulates and authorizes professional certificate training, manages the general registry of vocational training centers, and offers grants to establish Aula Mentor learning centers. It also recognizes vocational training projects of special interest submitted by businesses, public bodies, and other organizations, and maintains the paid educational resource catalog Punto Neutro.
Online procedures and public services
The electronic office allows users to submit complaints and suggestions, make online inquiries, verify documents using a secure verification code (CSV), exercise data protection rights, file appeals and claims, and purchase publications online. It also provides information about the Central Archive, including document consultation and reproduction services and guided visits.
Social media
The ministry maintains official profiles on Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok, where it shares news and information about education, vocational training, and sports.
