About Encuentro Escuelas UNESCO

A meeting place for UNESCO school projects

Encuentro Escuelas UNESCO is the website that served as a reference for Spain's 32nd UNESCO Associated Schools meeting, held in Madrid under the theme “Madrid, Cultural Landscape of Humanity.” The site functioned as a virtual meeting place where participating schools shared projects related to UNESCO.

The UNESCO Associated Schools Network

The international UNESCO Associated Schools Network is an education program created in 1953 to help schools around the world exchange experiences, projects, and teaching materials. It now includes more than 11,500 schools in 182 countries, coordinated from UNESCO headquarters in Paris. Spain has about 220 associated schools, public and private, religious and secular, ranging from preschools to universities.

Activities

Once a year, UNESCO Associated Schools in Spain meet to exchange educational experiences through workshops and advance UNESCO's core goals, aligned with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. The 2019 meeting coincided with the International Year of Indigenous Languages.

Contact

The website has a contact form for schools that asks for the school's name, an email address, and a message.
