Fundación Juan March is a Spanish cultural institution established in 1955 by financier Juan March Ordinas. It organizes exhibitions, concerts, and lectures and operates venues in Madrid, Palma, and Cuenca.

From philanthropy to cultural programming

From 1955 to 1975, the foundation provided direct philanthropic support, awarding more than 5,000 scholarships, prizes, grants, and sponsorships across cultural, social-welfare, artistic, and scientific fields. In 1975, it became an operating foundation that designs, produces, organizes, and presents its own cultural programs.

Three cultural venues

  • Madrid: The main venue hosts exhibitions, concerts, and lectures and houses a research library.

A research library

The foundation describes its library as a resource for research. Its holdings include music and theater collections, personal papers, art and curatorial studies, and a collection on the art of magic.

Archives and personal libraries

The collections also include the personal libraries of Julio Cortázar, Fernando Zóbel, and Francisco Ruiz Ramón, along with the foundation’s institutional archive documenting more than 70 years of its work.

Canal March

Canal March is the foundation’s audiovisual portal, with thousands of recordings of lectures, exhibitions, and concerts held at its venues since 1975, as well as documentary series and podcasts. The institution also offers email newsletters.
