Online preparation for Madrid’s tour guide exam

Cursoguiasmadrid is an online academy that prepares students for the Community of Madrid’s official tour guide exam. Its course covers the syllabus required by the regional Directorate General of Tourism for the 2025 exam call and was developed by licensed tour guides with more than 25 years of experience.

Curriculum and study materials

The program comprises 81 topics in three sections: 19 on tourism techniques, 35 on Spain, and 27 on Madrid. Materials include videos and PDFs covering Spain, PDFs on tourism techniques and Madrid, and four videos specifically designed to help students prepare for the language exam. The Spain videos draw on more than 10,000 photographs provided by Pixabay and Spain’s Tourism Documentation Center, part of Turespaña.

Teaching approach and student support

• Guided tours for hands-on practice, with students able to choose the tours they prefer.
• Three online tutoring sessions for guidance and progress check-ins.
• Bilingual tutors for the written and oral language exams.
• Career guidance, practice tours, and access to a job board after students earn their qualification.
• One year of access to course materials, with the option to extend it if needed.

The course is fully online, and students choose when to begin. The academy says the syllabus, previously taught in person over 200 hours, is now delivered online. It also says the course has been registered with Spain’s Intellectual Property Registry since 2005 and reports a 90% pass rate.

Who the course is for

Students have come from tourism, hospitality, and tourism marketing, as well as history, art, geography, fine arts, the humanities, psychology, language studies, journalism, and law. The course is also aimed at tour escorts and licensed guides from other Spanish regions or the European Union who want to broaden their knowledge.
