Abella Legal is a women-led law firm and equality consultancy that has operated since 2006. Its work combines legal advice and courtroom representation with consulting, training, and public education on equality and gender-based violence. The firm says it works from feminist, intersectional, and human-rights perspectives.

Services

• Legal representation and litigation: advice and representation in courts and tribunals in family-law and violence cases. The firm also offers mentoring, legal analysis and interpretation, and a Legal Clinic for Social Justice.
• Consulting: equality assessments and plans, harassment and violence protocols, policy drafting, reporting channels, safeguarding officers, and research.
• Training and public education: university teaching; training programs for institutions, organizations, and community and sports groups; and talks and conferences. Training is available in person, online, and in hybrid formats.

Areas of focus

The firm focuses on equality law, workplace equality, gender-impact assessments, sexual violence, gender-based violence against women and girls, sexual harassment and sex-based harassment, and gender-based violence in sports.

Projects and clients

Its projects include legal and technical support on sexual harassment, sex-based harassment, and sexual violence in sports in the Basque Country, with training for sports organizations and schools; support for integrating equality into the regional public sector for DEMA, the Bizkaia Provincial Employment and Entrepreneurship Agency; drafting legal instruments and policy proposals to advance equality between women and men; and designing and implementing assessments and protocols addressing gender-based violence.

Organizations it lists among its clients and collaborators include the Basque Government, Basque Team, Spain’s National Social Security Institute, IVAP, Eudel, the Government of Navarre, the provincial governments of Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, and Araba, SEPE, and municipalities and associations of municipalities in the Basque Country and Navarre.
