About Незабудка (Nezabudka)

Незабудка, transliterated as Nezabudka, is an online Russian school for children growing up outside an environment where the language is used every day. Its approach responds to a common situation in bilingual and expatriate families: children may use Russian mainly at home while studying and socializing in another language. The school aims to help them read, write, and express themselves more confidently without turning language learning into a mechanical obligation.

Teaching takes place by video in small groups of three or four students. The school says it tries to bring together children of similar ages and language levels so they can work at a comfortable pace. Each group meets once a week; classes are scheduled on weekday afternoons or weekends, with options for European and U.S. time zones. Specific availability depends on which groups are open at the time.

The Русский без границ program, or Russian Without Borders, is for ages six to thirteen and works on reading, writing, and expressing ideas in Russian for children growing up outside a Russian-speaking environment. For younger students ages four to seven, Speech Development focuses on pronunciation, a feel for the language, and spoken expression. The age-based structure helps families identify the course that fits their child’s stage.

Reading has its own place through the Лампа book club, Lampa, for children ages four to sixteen. The school describes it as a place to read and discuss books with hosts connected to acting, aiming to make reading a shared activity rather than just an assignment. The Literary Studio for ages nine to thirteen invites students to analyze texts and explore them creatively.

Performance-based offerings extend that language work. The school offers an acting studio for ages seven to thirteen, using dialogue, play, and audio-play recording, along with a public-speaking workshop for ages seven to eleven that practices communicating ideas and stories to others. It also lists an art studio for ages five to thirteen, with exercises in different genres and introductions to the work of well-known artists.

Founder Людмила Павлова (Ludmila Pavlova) says in the school’s introduction that she lives in Barcelona and came up with the idea after noticing her children beginning to mix Russian words and sentence structures. Academic director Маргарита Клебанова (Margarita Klebanova) is presented as a Russian-language teacher and educator with 13 years of experience. The school operates entirely online: Barcelona is the founder’s stated home, not a physical location for students.

For families, the format eliminates commuting and lets children join from home using a computer, tablet, or phone and basic writing supplies. The school recommends a comfortable workspace, a reliable internet connection, and minimal distractions; it says an adult should help the child join and set up Zoom for the first session. Later meetings are intended to let students participate independently. Enrollment and group inquiries are handled through the website and its contact channels.
