About Caterra

An agricultural cooperative in Terra Alta

Caterra is the commercial name of Cooperativa Agrícola Terra Alta de La Pobla de Massaluca, founded by local farmers in 1963. It makes wine and extra-virgin olive oil and also grows almonds and olives in the Terra Alta wine region.

Fields, vineyards, and production

The cooperative manages 565 hectares of farmland: 325 hectares of olive groves and 240 hectares of vineyards, all registered within the Terra Alta designation of origin. Its vineyards lie in La Pobla de Massaluca, Batea, and Vilalba dels Arcs. The winery produces approximately 11,000 hectoliters a year and can process up to 15,000 kilograms of grapes per hour. Stainless-steel tanks allow controlled fermentation and storage, while young and aged wines are selected under the supervision of its winemaking team.
