About Real Fábrica de Cristales de La Granja
Glassmaking inside an 18th-century factory
The Real Fábrica de Cristales de La Granja occupies a vast industrial building constructed between 1770 and 1784. Today, the site keeps the history of Spanish glassmaking tangible: visitors can move from the factory's architecture to the Museo Tecnológico del Vidrio, where collections trace European glass from the 16th through the 19th centuries, La Granja crystal, Maumejean stained glass, and contemporary work.
The visit can also include a view of glassblowers and finishers at work around the furnaces, turning the collection into a demonstration of living craft. Educational workshops and training courses extend that experience, while the official shop sells pieces made at the factory. It is a rare opportunity to see the tools, techniques, and objects of glassmaking gathered under one historic roof.
