About Rancho Cortesano

A working apiary behind the museum

Rancho Cortesano is both a beekeeping cooperative and a visitor destination in the countryside around Jerez. The cooperative says it manages about 2,000 hives across 40 apiaries in Cádiz province, producing honey and other goods from the hive. That working landscape gives the Museo de la Miel y las Abejas a clear purpose: it introduces visitors to beekeeping, the life of a colony, and the bees' role in pollination and biodiversity.

The family visit program takes the subject outside the exhibition space, with guided beekeeping experiences and activities built around beeswax and honey tasting. The result is a rural outing with a practical focus, especially suited to families and curious travelers who want to understand how a familiar food begins long before it reaches the table.
