About Becas Educación - Ministerio de Educación, Formación Profesional y Deportes

Spain’s public student-aid portal

becaseducacion.gob.es is the information portal of Spain’s Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports for student scholarships and grants. It is a public website, not a private company, and centralizes information about application periods, eligibility, and how to apply.

Scholarships and grants

The portal organizes information into four main sections, each with its own detailed page:

  • Vocational training, high school, and other non-university studies: Scholarships for vocational training, high school, and arts education.
  • University and advanced arts education: Scholarships for undergraduate and master’s degree programs.
  • Educational support grants: For people with specific educational support needs.
  • Scholarships for teachers, researchers, and graduates: Includes research scholarships for Spanish teachers of French offered by the French Embassy in Spain.

Practical information for applicants

For each type of aid, the website explains which studies qualify, how much funding may be available, how and when to apply, application steps, general, academic, and financial requirements, and recipients’ obligations. It also includes frequently asked questions, videos, and a section with answers to specific questions.

Highlighted dates and deadlines

The portal publishes deadlines by academic year. For the 2026–27 academic year, applications for general scholarships were open from April 7, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. (mainland Spain time) through May 19, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Educational support grants for the same year can be requested from May 19, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. through September 10, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. During the first half of August 2026, applicants for the 2026–27 general scholarship were notified whether they met the financial requirements.

Important change for Catalonia

The website warns that, starting in the 2026–27 academic year, students whose family home is in Catalonia will not be able to apply for these national scholarships because responsibility has been transferred to the Government of Catalonia. They must apply for the corresponding regional scholarship.

Access and contact

Information is organized under sections such as “Scholarships and Grants,” “Regulations and Documents,” “Questions,” “About Us,” “Contact,” and “News.” The portal directs applicants to the electronic office to complete procedures and offers an internal search tool. The site belongs to Spain’s Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports.

Confirm deadlines, requirements, and terms on the official portal before submitting an application.
