Plastic Coatings for Metal

Cover Systems is a Spanish company specializing in plastic coatings for metal, an alternative to conventional finishes intended to address corrosion. Founded in 1985, it has two locations: one in Hernani, Gipuzkoa, and another in Barcelona.

Services and Materials

The company provides coating services using several material families:

• Thermoplastics: thick coatings that give parts specific surface properties
• Thermosets: traditional materials suitable for a wide range of parts and applied by electrostatic spraying
• Polyureas: wear- and abrasion-resistant products that can be applied to many types of surfaces
• Liquid coatings: aesthetic finishes using resins and varnishes for delicate parts

Specific applications include light poles, manhole covers, marine components, and water treatment valves.

Industries and Projects

Cover Systems works in valve and water infrastructure, offshore, transportation, street furniture, and construction. Projects highlighted by the company include renovation work at Real Sociedad’s stadium, reconstruction of the Colindres Bridge in Cantabria, reprocessing railings at the Hotel Londres in England, restoring lampposts at Hotel María Cristina in San Sebastián, coating light poles in Barcelona, handrails for the Stockholm and Newcastle subway systems, and underground water treatment valves weighing more than 3,000 kilograms in Dubai. The company has also coated interior submarine components for the navy and equipment for calisthenics and CrossFit parks in the United States and Spain.
