Fundació Privada LAR

Support across the life span

Fundació Privada LAR is a private nonprofit established in 2001 by family members of people with mental health conditions. It began to support people experiencing mental health challenges and raise awareness, then expanded its work to include people with intellectual disabilities and older adults.

Services and programs

• Support Service: Assistance for people with disabilities in exercising their legal capacity, including people with mental health conditions, intellectual disabilities, and older adults with legal capacity.
• Housing Services: Supported homes and independent-living assistance, with publicly contracted placements through the Department of Social Rights, as well as social-rent housing.
• Personal and Community Support Service (SAPIC): Private in-home and community-based care.
• Recreation Services: Club Social Portalet and Club Social Torrassa.
• Family Advisory Service.

Organization and funding

The foundation is governed by an eight-member board made up of family members of people with mental health conditions and has a 41-person professional team. It is funded by member contributions and agreements or grants from public and private organizations. Its website publishes transparency documents, including bylaws, an organizational chart, audits and annual accounts, an annual report, an equality plan, and a quality and environmental program.

Fundació Privada LAR works mainly in Vallès Oriental and nearby areas, including Osona, Maresme, Vallès Occidental, and Barcelonès. Its headquarters are in Granollers, Barcelona province.
