Congelados Rivera is the trade name of Distribuciones Rivera e Hijos, Sociedad Limitada, a food distributor specializing in frozen products. It serves hospitality and institutional customers as well as individual shoppers through its store in Granada.

History

The company's story began in 1962, when José Rivera Pérez moved to Granada from his hometown of Maniños to open a Pescanova branch in the province, becoming a pioneer in frozen foods in the city. In 1979, the family business became Distribuciones Rivera. Evaristo and Carlos Rivera have continued the business, serving hospitality, institutional, and retail customers.

Store and customers

For more than 40 years, the Rivera frozen-food store has served individual customers in Granada and nearby areas from its location on Calle Maniños, off Avenida de Andalucía. The company points to its specialization as an advantage over big-box stores and says it offers variety at competitive prices.

Purchasing cooperative

For more than 15 years, Congelados Rivera has belonged to Estrella Polar 3000, a nationwide purchasing cooperative with 27 members. The company's delivery vehicles display the cooperative's logo alongside its own.

European funding

Distribuciones Rivera e Hijos, Sociedad Limitada, received European Union funding through the NextGenerationEU program and Spain's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan for a project involving renewable-energy self-consumption and storage and renewable thermal systems, managed by the Government of Andalusia through the Andalusian Energy Agency.
