The writer’s legacy in a Granada landmark
Fundación Francisco Ayala preserves, studies, and shares the legacy of the writer, professor, translator, and editor Francisco Ayala, recipient of the Cervantes Prize and the Prince of Asturias Award for Literature. Its work includes caring for his writing and archive and organizing cultural and academic programs about his life and work.
A historic palace and garden
The foundation is based in Granada’s Palacete Alcázar Genil, a building designated an Asset of Cultural Interest. The complex includes a central 13th-century qubba, two 19th-century side pavilions, and surrounding gardens. The property was restored in the early 1990s.
