About Hotel Areces

A 19th-century building beside Grado’s market square

Hotel Areces occupies a listed 19th-century building in central Grado, Asturias. Broad, framed balconies and iron railings retain the character of the original architecture, while the rooms look toward the town’s main square and its traditional Sunday market.

A careful restoration

A comprehensive 2018 renovation improved the building’s thermal envelope and introduced renewable energy for heating and domestic hot water. The hotel says clean energy now supplies all of its domestic hot water, reducing its carbon dioxide emissions.

Rooms and apartments

There are eight double rooms, two apartments, and a shared lounge with large windows. All rooms face outside and have private bathrooms with thermostatic showers and toiletries, free Wi-Fi, large televisions, 27-centimeter memory-foam mattresses, and 100% cotton sheets.

Breakfast and guest services

The breakfast buffet emphasizes local products: Afuega’l Pitu cheese with a protected designation of origin, tocinillo de cielo, spelt bread, barreña or fresh curd, artisan butter, honey, blueberries, local jam, and sweet cider. Other services include a concierge, room service, a shared lounge and kitchenette, heating, free Wi-Fi, and soundproofed, hypoallergenic rooms. The property provides accommodations for guests with reduced mobility and does not allow pets or smoking.
