About Fundació Rafael Masó

Inside Rafael Masó’s Girona home

Casa Masó offers an unusually intimate way to encounter the architect Rafael Masó: visitors enter the house where he was born and see a family interior preserved with the furniture and decoration of the Noucentista period. The building’s river-facing position also opens a different view of Girona, placing the city’s familiar Onyar frontage within the daily scale of a home.

The house took its present form through the joining of four neighboring properties acquired by the Masó family over several decades. Rafael Masó’s final major changes, completed in 1919, shaped the appearance that visitors see today. As the only one of Girona’s famous river houses open to the public, Casa Masó connects architecture, interiors, and the city’s civic history in a single guided visit.
