Architecture and sustainable building with earth

Terram is a network of building professionals, architects, and engineers working to promote sustainable construction with earth. It has two main teams, one in Girona and one in Barcelona. The company offers four service areas that can be combined to create custom projects.

Services

• Architecture projects: New construction and renovation using healthy or reclaimed materials; energy-efficiency improvements using earth, straw, and natural insulation; design advice on raw-earth architecture for professionals and owner-builders; construction management and health and safety coordination; building inspections, energy certificates, and occupancy certificates.
• Construction: Earth finishes; lime rendering, lime stucco, and tadelakt; building elements made with earth from the site, including compressed earth blocks (BTC), adobe, rammed earth, and prefabricated panels; small single-story buildings; and restoration of traditional earthen buildings.
• Workshops and training: Earth architecture workshops for children, families, and adults; participatory workshops; and introductory and advanced hands-on courses and talks.
• Technical consulting: Technical and construction solutions using raw earth, and laboratory testing of earth for construction use.
