About ASATA Cooperación

What ASATA Cooperación is

ASATA Cooperación is the development-cooperation arm of the Asturian Association of Worker-Owned and Social-Economy Enterprises (ASATA). With support from the Asturian Agency for Development Cooperation, it works on international projects in Bolivia and public awareness initiatives in Asturias.

Projects in Bolivia

The organization supports work in Bolivian municipalities and communities including El Alto, Viacha and Sucre, combining social-economy principles with gender equality and environmental sustainability.

  • Youth leadership and advocacy for the sexual and reproductive rights of teenagers and young adults in Sucre.
  • Alto Milluni: support for environmentally sustainable and women-led enterprise in the Alto Milluni community of El Alto.
  • Political and social empowerment for women entrepreneurs and owners of micro and small businesses in El Alto and Viacha.
  • Miradas Altas: development cooperation and social-economy education linking Bolivia and Asturias.

Public engagement and culture

Awareness work has included the exhibition Bolivia, mirada de mujer, portraying women from Alto Milluni in La Paz Department who participate in projects supported by Asturias' social-economy movement. The exhibition sets out to share their experiences and encourage equality and solidarity.
