About Liven (Paulig Spain)
Snack Manufacturing in Spain
Liven is a Spanish savory-snack manufacturer that became part of Finnish food and beverage group Paulig in January 2022. Founded in 1876, Paulig is an international company. Following the acquisition, Liven operates as Paulig Spain (Liven SAU) and describes itself as an industrial partner for snack development and production.
Products and Capabilities
The company makes snacks and Tex-Mex products and offers custom solutions for other companies. Its business is organized into three lines:
- Raw materials: pellets, micropellets, raw corn, and bags.
- Finished products: roasted corn and corn chips ready for packaging and labeling.
- Private label: end-to-end production of snacks, tortilla chips, nachos, popcorn, wraps, seasonings, and sauces.
Customers
Liven serves major food companies, contract manufacturers, its own brands, retailers, and movie theaters across several product categories.
Sustainability
The Berga snack plant is expected to earn carbon-neutral certification, joining the Puig Reig popcorn plant, which already holds it. Pellets are made using 100% renewable electricity. Paulig has set 2030 targets for 70% of net sales to come from products that support people’s health and the planet, all raw materials from high-risk areas to be sustainably sourced, greenhouse-gas emissions to fall 50% across the value chain and 80% in its own operations, and all packaging to be recyclable by 2027 and made from renewable or recycled materials by 2030.
