About Frescoop
Food projects with local and social value
Frescoop is a nonprofit, integrated social-purpose cooperative founded in 2007. It manages food projects with local and social value, applying responsible and circular-economy principles. Its work is centered in Central Catalonia, with projects across the region.
What the cooperative does
- Food sales and distribution: Sells local, organic, and socially responsible products to individuals and institutions, with a focus on fair pricing and avoiding speculation. Frescoop has an online store.
- School kitchens: Manages four school kitchens and two early childhood centers, promoting healthy, locally sourced food for children.
- Catering and events: Provides catering and event services with l'Obradora de la Catalunya Central.
- Advice and support: Advises social and solidarity-economy organizations, with a focus on agroecology.
- Supercoop service members: Supplies all fresh products and much of the dry goods for Supercoop.
Cooperative model
Frescoop prioritizes small local producers, reuse, and shorter supply chains. It promotes fresh, local, sustainable, and organic foods and builds cooperative local-economy networks. The cooperative is democratically organized according to social-economy principles and works with social-purpose projects that share its values.
