Mantecados E. Moreno, marketed under the name “Somos Los Artesanitos,” is a traditional Christmas-sweets factory in Estepa, Seville. The family business has been operating for more than 60 years and is now run by its third generation. Its main products are mantecados (traditional Spanish Christmas shortbread), polvorones (crumbly Spanish Christmas cookies), and other seasonal sweets, sold directly through its online store.

History

The company’s story began in 1955, when Enrique Moreno and a business partner ran a motorcycle repair shop in Estepa. In 1965, they leased a local family’s mantecado and polvorón factory, which operated under the Colón brand. They later acquired a Christmas-sweets factory beside the Torre de la Victoria. In 1972, the business moved to larger premises on the former Seville–Málaga highway, known as La Cañada. The E. Moreno brand and Los Artesanitos line were launched in 1980. In 2015, the family acquired another factory to expand production.

Factory and Visits

The company has facilities in Estepa and offers guided tours and mantecado-making workshops at its former El Gamo factory, which has been adapted to welcome visitors. During the Christmas production season, the company says it employs more than 200 people.
