Maritime and port services since 1956

Consulmar is a Spanish family-owned group providing maritime and port services since 1956. It began in Bilbao as a ship-agency and crew-shipping company and, according to the company, has passed through three generations of the Zubiaga family. It reports a workforce of about 200, a fleet of 30 vessels, and operations in seven ports across three countries.

Fleet and capabilities

The company highlights two vessels: CASTALIA, described as a multipurpose, fully electric, zero-emission vessel, and BALEA, used to collect MARPOL I waste with a cargo capacity of 730 cubic meters. Consulmar says it can pump from shore or from a barge at anchor, handles waste with both high and low flash points, and can carry up to 730 cubic meters per barge.

Lubricants and expanded services

Consulmar distributes MOBIL and CEPSA marine lubricants from available stock and can pump from shore or from a barge at anchor. It has added OPL service from Ceuta for vessels crossing the Strait of Gibraltar, alongside its existing OPL base in Algeciras. It also supplies lubricants at Tanger Med for Morocco and at the port of Ceuta.

Certification and sustainability

The company operates under ISO 14001:2015 environmental certification and says it is renewing its fleet with electric motors to reduce carbon emissions.
