Abrasivos Mendiola is a family business founded in 1962 by Andrés Mendiola Zabala in Asua-Erandio, Bizkaia. It manufactures abrasives for surface treatment. Its product is made by recovering copper-smelting slag, offering an alternative to traditional silica sand.

Applications and industries
The abrasives are designed for cleaning, paint removal, surface preparation, and rust removal. Applications include marine, petrochemical, offshore, construction and steel structures, metalworking, automotive, and industrial maintenance.
Technical characteristics
The products have controlled grain size, high hardness, low dust generation, and strong reusability, and work with different blasting systems. Because they contain no free silica, they do not pose a risk of silicosis.
History and expansion
In 2014, the company brought Asua Blast into its business as a sales and distribution company. Over the past decade, it has expanded its commercial relationships to more than 15 countries and hundreds of customers across different industries.
