Applications

Panlab products support basic and clinical psychopharmacology research. Applications include studying brain functions such as cognition, memory, and emotion; researching conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, depression, and addiction; and discovering and screening new therapeutic compounds.

History and Milestones

Panlab has served behavioral neuroscience for more than 50 years and was founded in 1969. Historically, it was formed by the merger of two companies: a sales and marketing business, Panlab, and an R&D company, LETICA, which contributed key product lines and innovation. In 2015, Panlab became a wholly owned subsidiary of Harvard Bioscience.

Its systems are cited in more than 15,000 publications. The company says it pioneered several behavioral research tools, including modular Skinner boxes, the migration of video-tracking systems from DOS to Windows, strain-gauge load cells for measuring activity, position, and intake, and noninvasive indirect blood-pressure measurement.
