About Fundación Antonio Gala para Jóvenes Creadores
Residencies for emerging artists
Fundación Antonio Gala para Jóvenes Creadores is a cultural institution in Córdoba, Spain, that supports young creators through yearlong residency scholarships. Its program is based in the former Convento del Corpus Christi, where residents live and develop their creative projects.
Residency program
The foundation's central program is its International Call for Creative Grants, which selects a group of residents each year. Fourteen creators were selected for the 25th class. The 26th call is scheduled for January 2027. Residents are organized by class and work in fields such as visual arts, literature, music, and sculpture.
Cultural events
The foundation presents public events throughout the year, including:
- Chamber-music concerts, including Gala Fest, which held its sixth edition in 2026.
- Poetry readings and book presentations by authors such as Andrea Abello, Javier Bozalongo, Mercedes Guerrero, Kevin Cuadrado, and Javier Gilabert.
- Exhibitions, including the group show “La última pintura” at CAAC, featuring work by six residents from different classes.
- Short-story and photography contests.
Recognition and partnerships
The foundation has cooperation agreements with institutions such as the Provincial Government of Córdoba, which renewed its support for 2026. Its president, Francisco Moreno, was named a trustee of Fundación Cajasol. Artists connected with the residency classes have received outside awards, including the 13th UNIA Painting Award, won by Sheila Cañestro, a member of the 16th class.
Transparency
The foundation publishes financial documents and an ethics code governing its day-to-day operations on its website.
