OLBIO is a biotechnology company based at the Córdoba Technology Park. It designs and manufactures high-value botanical extracts, applying extraction methods developed through scientific research to agro-industrial by-products. Its extracts are intended for the nutraceutical, dermocosmetic, nutricosmetic, functional food, and animal feed markets.

Technical capabilities

The company handles the full extract-production process: extracting active ingredients using continuous processes, superheated liquids, ionic liquids, coacervate extraction, and supercritical fluids; purification through chromatography, sorption and desorption, tangential nanofiltration, and selective precipitation; microencapsulation to ensure stability and bioavailability; drying by freeze-drying, spray-drying, or vacuum drying; and standardization, formulation, homogenization, and packaging of the finished product. Quality control covers raw-material traceability and testing, in-process checks under good manufacturing practices, and analysis of the finished product.

Team and experience

The team includes highly trained professionals, among them PhDs, university professors, and industrial engineers. They have experience designing and implementing extraction processes at industrial scale, with particular expertise in olives, grapes, and citrus.
