History

Lácteas Cobreros traces its origins to 1975, when Ubaldo Cobreros began working in transportation. Transportes Cobreros was founded in 1979 by José Cobreros and María Paz. In 1988, the company began transporting whey; in 1990, it moved from transportation into dairy operations, collecting more than 20 million liters a year. The current Lácteas Cobreros was established in 1997. In 2000, the company built a new plant to produce goat cheese rolls, milk powder, and lactic curd, becoming a pioneer in goat cheese-roll production in Castilla y León.

Facilities and Capacity

The company has a production plant certified to IFS and BRC Food standards and employs more than 150 people. The plant serves cheese and dairy-product manufacturers and is supplied with milk from selected farms in leading dairy regions of Spain, collected using the company’s own service. Lácteas Cobreros also operates a large fleet to supply customers throughout Europe.

Markets and International Presence

Lácteas Cobreros exports to more than 25 countries and supplies major companies in Spain. It has established itself as one of the leading companies in the goat-dairy sector.

Certifications and Awards

The production plant is certified to IFS and BRC Food standards. Awards listed by the company include two gold medals and one silver at the 2022 Frankfurt International Trophy; a super-gold award, six bronze medals, and two silver medals at the 2021 World Cheese Awards; the 2020 Castilla y León Food Transition Award; the 2020 Zamora SME of the Year award; and Zamora’s Best SME of the Year award in 2020.
