About Agrupament Escolta Grimpamons
A scout group in Castelldefels
Agrupament Escolta Grimpamons was a scout group based in Castelldefels. The 2016–2017 school year was its final year of activity. The group's blog says the large number of children and teens in the group and on its waiting list led its leaders to close it and establish two new groups, AE Boscaires and AE Gratacims, so they could provide a higher-quality educational experience and reach more children, young people, and families in the city.
Age groups and organization
The group organized members into age-based units, each with its own leadership team. For the 2013–2014 school year, the units were:
- Follets
- Llops
- Raiers
- Pioners
- Clan
It also had support leaders for international and educational work.
Activities and local traditions
The blog documents camps, outings, and participation in local traditions. One featured event was the “grimpacastanyada,” a street stand selling roasted chestnuts and panellets—traditional Catalan almond sweets—for a full day, with support from Castelldefels City Council. The blog also describes games and scavenger hunts to introduce the group to local residents, including an activity organized by the Follets at the church square.
Contact and successor groups
The blog says Grimpamons did not have a phone number. For information about scouting in Castelldefels or joining the new groups, it lists escoltismecastelldefels@gmail.com. AE Boscaires and AE Gratacims are listed on Facebook and Instagram as @aeboscaires and @aegratacims.
