About Azimut

Outdoor education in Catalonia

Azimut is a nonprofit association founded in January 1993. It brings together hiking organizations in Catalonia with children's, youth, beginner, or family programs. Its full name is Moviment Educatiu d'Excursionisme en el Temps Lliure Infantil i Juvenil de Catalunya – Azimut. Its member organizations belong to the Federació d'Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya and use outdoor recreation to introduce children and young people to the mountains.

Activities and services

  • Erols Refuge: Located in Castellar de N'Hug, within Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. It offers a mountain-refuge setting for weekend activities and is intended for groups of children and young people, experienced hikers, and participants in the Ruta de l'Ermità. Discounted rates are available to youth recreation groups, especially Azimut member organizations.
  • Azimut Camp: An annual camp bringing together all Azimut organizations and their children's, youth, beginner, and family groups for a shared stay in the mountains. Weekend activities bring children, young people, and counselors together.

Member organizations

Azimut's members are hiking organizations rather than individuals, although everyone who belongs to a member organization is considered part of the movement.
