Som Mobilitat
A nonprofit consumer cooperative offering electric car-sharing for individuals, businesses, public agencies, energy communities, and neighborhood groups.
About Som Mobilitat
Shared electric mobility
Som Mobilitat is a nonprofit consumer cooperative that offers electric car-sharing. Its model lets individuals, organizations, companies, public agencies, and energy and neighborhood communities share cars without each user needing to own a vehicle.
How car-sharing works
The cooperative makes a fleet of electric vehicles available through its mobile app. Members reserve a car, unlock it with the app, drive, and return it to its designated parking spot. The service is available by the hour and is designed for different users:
- Individuals: Use shared electric vehicles without taking on the costs of owning a car.
- Organizations and businesses: Electric car-sharing options to help manage staff transportation.
- Public agencies: Sustainable transportation for municipal staff, with shared vehicles also available to residents.
- Energy and neighborhood communities: Shared electric vehicles within the community.
Electric camper van rentals
Alongside urban car-sharing, Som Mobilitat offers electric camper van rentals that can be booked online for getaways and lower-impact trips around the region.
A member-owned cooperative
Som Mobilitat describes itself as a collective project in which each member has a voice and a vote and takes part in decisions about the service's future. Joining requires a one-time €10 contribution. The cooperative holds member assemblies and works with other organizations through cooperative partnerships.
Projects and partnerships
Som Mobilitat's electric car-sharing proposal has been included in the Association of Catalan Municipalities' Sustainable Mobility Framework Agreement, making it easier for municipalities to contract for the service. The cooperative has also agreed with ARCA to launch a pilot for shared electric mobility among Local Action Groups as part of the ENFOCC 2030 project, with the goal of bringing cooperative car-sharing and the energy transition to rural areas.
Online presence
The cooperative offers a help center and blog and is on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Mastodon, and LinkedIn.
