Foresa is a chemical company founded in 1964, primarily manufacturing formaldehyde and adhesives. It is part of the multinational Finsa Group and has more than 60 years of industry experience. Its production plants are located in Spain, Portugal, and France.

History and Expansion

Founded in 1964 as Formol y Resinas, S.A. (Foresa), the company has grown through acquisitions and integration. It acquired all of Portugal’s Bersfor in 1996, opened a maritime terminal in Vilagarcía in 2000, integrated an emulsions business in 2005, acquired a plant in France in 2006, and established the Foresa Technologies division in 2019.

Facilities

Foresa operates from several strategic locations:

• Spain: Caldas de Reis, Pontevedra, is home to the head office, production facilities, and Foresa Technologies’ technology center. A liquid-bulk chemical terminal is located at the Port of Ferrazo in Vilagarcía de Arousa. The company also operates an emulsions plant in Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña.
• France: A plant in Ambarès-et-Lagrave (Carbon-Blanc Cedex) produces and markets products for the French market.
• Portugal: The Bresfor plant in Gafanha da Nazaré, Aveiro, manufactures products for the Portuguese market and serves as a specialty-products distribution center.

Certifications and Sustainability

The company holds Fordevasa Gold, Silver, and Bronze recognitions and participates in energy-efficiency projects supported by the Galician Energy Institute and the National Energy Efficiency Fund. It also maintains codes of conduct and supplier manuals in several languages.
