About Cooperativa El Raso

What Cooperativa El Raso is

Cooperativa El Raso is an agricultural cooperative in Calahorra, La Rioja, marketing fresh fruit and vegetables. Its roots reach the late 1970s, when local farmers began selling cauliflower for export, along with artichokes, asparagus, lettuce and cherries, through Mercorioja. They formally organized in 1986 with 22 founding members and adopted the name of the square where area produce was traditionally sold.

History and growth

The original 22 members have grown to 54. Rising production outgrew the first facility, and the cooperative opened its present 2,500-square-meter site on October 25, 2003. It brings together more than 20 crops grown by members.
