About Regazo
Peer support for breastfeeding
Regazo is a nonprofit association of mothers in Cádiz province. Along with their own experience breastfeeding, members have specific training to share information about breastfeeding and listen to other mothers. Their work is voluntary and serves pregnant and breastfeeding mothers who ask for support.
How the group works
Support is offered mainly by phone and through meetings with pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. Phone support addresses questions and concerns from hundreds of mothers, especially in the baby’s first weeks. The group does not offer medical advice; it shares practical information based on members’ experience and expert information. Mother-to-mother meetings provide a place to share experiences, learn basic baby-care and parenting skills, and ask questions. Meetings are held monthly in several towns in the province at spaces provided by city governments, health centers, and other organizations.
