Estampaciones Metálicas del Cantábrico, S.A. (EMECANSA) is an industrial company founded in 1952 to manufacture metal containers for preserved foods, especially fish. It supplies cans with or without lids, separate lids, and lithography services that apply a customer-provided design to the containers.

History and Innovation

EMECANSA reports more than 70 years in Spain’s canned-food industry. Over time, it has adopted pull-tab openings, easy-open ends, and automated production processes. In 2021, it launched a new production line for small octagonal cans. The project received cofunding from the European Regional Development Fund through Cantabria’s 2014–2020 Operational Program (CRECE 2 – 2021).
