Grupo Consist S.A. (GRUCONSA) is a fourth-generation family business founded by Joan Llurba in 1957. It manufactures custom flexible paper and plastic packaging for companies in a range of industries that need specific packaging solutions. Its headquarters and manufacturing plant are in Spain, and its sales network serves domestic and international markets.

Products and Production

The company makes a broad range of flexible packaging products, including:

• Paper sacks
• Paper bags
• Complex-laminate sacks

• Household packaging
• Trash bags made from recycled polyethylene

According to figures published for 2022, the company had revenue of €66 million, 40% of it from exports. Production reached 120 million paper sacks and 7,000 metric tons of LDPE plastic. The workforce numbers more than 250, and the site covers over 47,000 m², including 37,000 m² of built space.

Customization and Certifications

GRUCONSA specializes in made-to-order packaging, with attention to sealing, protection, strength, moisture resistance, and ease of handling. It also offers high-quality printing for customers’ brand presentation. In 2020, the company obtained food-safety certification under international standards, enabling it to supply food packaging. It also participates in PRETHINK INK, a network focused on sustainable flexible packaging and flexographic printing.

Sustainability

The company applies circular-economy practices: paper waste is returned to suppliers for recycling, while polyethylene is processed at its own recycling plant and reused to make trash bags. In 2022, it installed a 1,500 kWp photovoltaic system for on-site use to reduce electricity consumption. Its laminated-film technology is said to reduce environmental impact by 30% compared with solvent-based systems.
