Fiare Banca Etica is an independent cooperative bank operating in Spain and Italy as part of the Banca Etica Group. It describes itself as an ethical finance institution, financing projects with positive social and environmental impact while excluding sectors such as fossil fuels, weapons, intensive agriculture, and gambling.

Cooperative model and governance

Each member has one vote, regardless of the amount invested. Figures published by the bank list 110,149 customers, including individuals, organizations, and companies in Spain and Italy, and 47,425 members. The bank reports a Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) ratio of 13.83%, a total capital ratio of 16.31%, and a nonperforming loan rate below that of conventional banks. Its internal policies include limiting the gap between the highest and lowest salaries and not paying oversized executive bonuses.

Products and services

The bank serves two main groups:

• Individuals: Checking accounts, the Ethical Member Account, the Social Transformation term deposit, cards, loans, online banking, and a mobile app.
• Businesses and organizations: Checking accounts, short-term financing, cards, deposits, agreements, crowdfunding, and ethical funds.

It also offers services for public agencies and financing related to housing.

Impact and transparency

Fiare Banca Etica publishes an impact report and makes its loans public so customers can see what their money finances. Figures it has shared include €407 million in loans to organizations and companies with positive impact in 2022, 70,000 metric tons of avoided CO₂ emissions, and 67,626 people benefiting from healthcare, social assistance, and educational services.
