Smart Jidoka is a management consultancy based in Bilbao that works with industrial and service companies on Lean business transformation. Its team includes professionals with experience in these projects, including Iratxe Las Hayas in strategy, governance, and innovation, and Lean experts Unai Ugarte and Mikel Feijoo.

Areas of work

The firm organizes its work across four areas of management:

• Strategy: Aligning purpose and vision within a business plan, defining specific initiatives, and mobilizing resources while balancing preparation for the future with improvement of current operations.

• Processes: Reducing lead times to increase flexibility, lower costs, and improve quality and service, with incremental automation and digitalization that keeps the human touch.
• People: Developing human capital in line with the strategy and building a Kaizen mindset through ongoing practice.

How the firm works

Smart Jidoka guides client teams through the design and implementation of each project’s phases and action plans, using a learn-by-doing approach. Through its projects, it teaches the Improvement Kata so results can be sustained over time and works to create a sense of ownership within the client organization.
