Supporting employee-owned businesses in the Basque Country

ASLE is a nonprofit business association based in the Basque Country that represents and serves employee-owned companies. It brings together more than 270 member companies, which collectively report annual revenue of over €1 billion and provide quality jobs. Its work is part of the social economy and focuses on promoting employee ownership in companies.

Services

The association supports entrepreneurs and businesses in three main areas:

• Formation: advice on setting up an employee-owned company.
• Conversion: support for businesses seeking to become employee-owned, including generational succession and sharing ownership among employees.
• Growth and stability: support for established employee-owned companies as they develop and grow.

ASLE also offers in-person and subsidized training, an entrepreneurship school, and FormaSare, a digital learning platform for member companies. It also runs a strategic partnership program with organizations and institutions.

Experience and business model

ASLE has more than 40 years of experience with employee-owned companies and participatory management models. Its approach is based on employee participation and shared responsibility. The association considers the employee-owned company a legal structure suited to businesses in any industry and rooted in its local community.
