History and Growth

The business began in 1947, when Nicolás Barreiro started operations in a modest shop. Recambios Barreiro S.L. was founded in A Coruña in 1983, and the first branches opened in Vigo and Santiago de Compostela in 1989. In 1991, the company joined Groupauto Unión Ibérica, an international parts-distribution network. It continued expanding with branches across Galicia from 2001 to 2007, then established a new headquarters in Bergondo, A Coruña, in 2008. It later expanded into Portugal, opening in Albergaria and Leiria from 2011 to 2014; Madrid in 2016; additional locations in San Fernando de Henares and Braga in 2018; and centers in Valencia and Mérida in 2021. The company adopted the Grupo Barreiro name and opened a center in Salamanca in 2022, then opened its first Catalonia center in Barcelona in 2023.
