Parish-Based Social Support in Berga

Càritas Parroquial de Berga is the parish's charitable and social-action organization. It supports people in need and works to promote their social inclusion and independence.

Programs and Services

• Volunteer hair salon: A volunteer hairdresser cuts and styles the hair of people served by the organization, supporting self-esteem and personal well-being.
• Language and culture classes for immigrant women: Classes at several levels for newly arrived women and young people who face language barriers, with cultural exchanges and discussions on topics of interest.
• Academic support for children and young people: Conversation and vocabulary, reading and writing, basic math, and homework help, along with support for social relationships and personal development.
• Food distribution: The organization is registered with the social services department to distribute food.

Registration and Organization

Càritas Parroquial de Berga is registered with the social services and justice departments and has its own bylaws, ethics code, and code of conduct. It has published annual reports continuously from 2010 through 2025.

Partnerships and Participation

The organization takes part in several Berguedà working groups and platforms: the Berga Social Organizations Roundtable, the regional functional diversity roundtable, the Cronos regional commission, the Berga New Residents Roundtable, the regional equality roundtable, and the Berguedà social housing roundtable. It accepts financial donations, volunteers, and partnership agreements.
