Mensakas is a delivery cooperative based in Barcelona, established in 2018 as a Catalan limited cooperative company (S.C.C.L.). It specializes in bike courier work and urban logistics, delivering goods and food with bicycle fleets. Its model prioritizes hiring workers as employees rather than treating couriers as independent contractors.

Cooperative model and origins

Mensakas describes itself as a responsible delivery alternative where work takes priority over capital and all staff have employment contracts. According to its website, some of its founders took part in the RidersxDerechos movement in 2017, alongside the Intersindical Alternativa de Catalunya (IAC) union, to call for better working conditions and challenge the use of false self-employment in the delivery sector. The cooperative uses Coopcycle, a French cooperative, to develop its ordering app.
