Natural-Wool Felt Manufacturing

Textil Olius is based in Barcelona, Spain, and manufactures natural-wool felt. Its history dates to 1841, when Joan Soler Roca founded Spain’s first carded-wool operation. FYTISA was established in 1946 and created its nonwovens division in 1964. The Textil Olius brand began in 1980, and in 1999 it consolidated industrial-felt production in Olius, supporting its international expansion.

Products and Applications

The company manufactures three main product families:

• Technical felts: For a wide range of industrial sectors.
• Colored felts: Available in a broad range of colors for different applications.
• Collar-interlining felts: For the apparel industry.

These felts are used in several broad areas:

• Consumer goods: Apparel, crafts, orthopedics, footwear, toys, packaging, furniture, musical instruments, saddlery, and fashion accessories.
• Industrial goods: Automotive, metalworking, baking, glass, appliances, liquid absorption, general industry, and construction.
• Decor: Interior design and acoustics, window displays, and temporary spaces.

Capacity and Reach

Textil Olius offers 7,000 product references and sells in 42 countries. Its manufacturing process produces no untreated wastewater, and the company holds four quality certifications. In 2023, it received an award for Sustainable Product in hotel and restaurant design at Interihotel BCN23. It is a member of Texfor and has prepared Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for its products.
