Technical Fabrics Since 1939

Terraza SL is a family-owned company founded in 1939 by Francesc Terraza. It designs, manufactures, and finishes technical textiles. The company began with silk and rayon and added polyester and polyamide as man-made fibers became available. Under the second generation, Ramon and Ferran, it developed fabrics with more advanced technical properties. The third generation, Álex and Isabel, now leads the business.

Products and Capabilities

The company manufactures a broad range of technical fabrics, including:

• Greige fabrics straight from the loom
• Dyed and printed fabrics using reactive and disperse dyes, with scouring and heat-setting
• Water-repellent fabrics and fabrics with antistatic, flame-retardant, and antibacterial treatments
• Knife-coated fabrics with PVC, polyurethane and acrylic resins, and weldable and flame-retardant resins
• Laminated fabrics with PU, PVC, PTFE, and other materials
• Embossed fabrics

Applications

Terraza SL fabrics serve a wide range of industries:

• Sportswear: High-tenacity polyamide and Cordura® fabrics that can be printed by sublimation and transfer for skydiving, motorcycling, extreme sports, athletic and work-protection footwear, life jackets, and waterproof clothing.
• Inflatables: Lightweight, high-tenacity, flame-retardant outdoor fabrics suitable for printing, used in inflatable and lighter-than-air structures, balloons and zeppelins, loading-dock shelters, traveling architecture, and entertainment productions.
• Tents, awnings, and camping tents: Waterproof and flame-retardant fabrics for temporary outdoor exposure.
• Medical: High-strength fabrics for inflatable splints, compression-therapy systems, patient lifts, wheelchairs, strollers, and sliding and nonslip sheets.
• Ballistic protection: High-tenacity and Cordura® fabrics that can be welded or heat-sealed and made waterproof, with camouflage prints to international standards, for reinforcement of work-protection, military, and law-enforcement clothing; military tents and transport bags; reinforced footwear; bullet-resistant vests; and personal protective equipment.
• Technical leather goods: Synthetic, cotton, and blended fabrics coated on one or both sides with resin, PVC, or rubber for large, high-performance bags and backpacks, developed with designers.
• Protective covers: Technical, high-protection applications similar to sportswear.
• Marine: Fabrics for life jackets, sail bags, marine upholstery, and protective covers.
• Outdoor upholstery, furniture, and decor: Waterproof and flame-retardant fabrics for temporary outdoor exposure.
• Other applications: Fabrics for a wide range of uses.

Certifications and Quality

The company holds ISO 9001 and OEKO-TEX certification for the design and manufacture of technical fabrics and finishes, awarded by SGS.

Trade Shows

Terraza SL regularly participates in Techtextil, the leading international trade show for technical textiles and high-performance materials, held in Frankfurt. It attended in 2022 and 2024 and planned to participate in 2026.
