About Userda 9
Local and responsible food shopping
Userda 9 is an ecological and responsible-consumption cooperative in Barcelona's Prosperitat neighborhood, in the Nou Barris district. Founded in 2000, it is run democratically by its members. The cooperative buys directly from local producers, prioritizing nearby suppliers, certified organic practices, and social responsibility.
How the cooperative works
About 25 household groups place weekly orders with selected producers. Products arrive on different schedules:
- Fruit and vegetables: weekly.
- Dairy, seasonal citrus, cured meats, pork, bread, and flour: every two weeks.
- Beef: monthly.
The store also carries packaged goods such as preserves, pasta, and cleaning products. Members pick up orders on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Part of neighborhood life
Userda 9 takes part in local community initiatives. It is involved in Ecovincles, a community garden where neighbors learn about ecological values, responsible consumption, and cooperatives. The garden also contributes food donations to a local support network. The cooperative has organized awareness workshops and activities in schools and across the neighborhood.
